Artist's Comments

I wonder how many of these villain pics I can phrase as questions... anywho, as the title implies, there's more Nicholson in my version of the Joker than Ledger, voice included.

Not that Heath Ledger's isn't my favorite, but I'm a lover of the episodic adventures (comics/TV), and his epicness as an 'agent of chaos' is a bit much for that.

I also really liked the idea in Tim Burton's Batman that the Joker is literally always smiling. It's something that makes Nicholson's Joker more creepy to me than Ledger's.

EDIT: I changed some colors and the blood on the knife.

I love his jagged teeth. Reminds me of the original comics. He always had crazy evil teeth. His eyes are kind of vague. Maybe if he was looking out at us? Just moving the pupil?

Otherwise, awesome. I love these little characterizations. They're great! OHH! Do a scrawny Robin next!

Done and done - 'cept I moved the other one so he's looking forward; less looking menacing for us and more staring down prey.

And BLACH! If there's one thing I don't like about Batman (and there is just one thing) it's the sidekicks. Villains are less frightening or dramatic when you've got someone with you, I think.

Though it would be fun to draw a lame, whiny Robin. I'll watch the Chris O'Donnell version to prep.

Yeah, I really don't like sidekicks. Batman's only sidekick was Alfred, and he wasn't really a sidekick so much as a partner and confidante.

Robin was always lame, whiney and a little bit into the boy-on-boy action...

Looking foreward to it.

Oh boy! Another one!

These are nice. What other villain type characters might you draw next?

Oh. And something I figure I'll mention. Look up: Sam & Max. A dog and Lagamorph duo, respectively. A game series. Started as a cult favorite back with the Lucas Arts Scumm engine games, and continued to a popular episode-based game series by the developers who split and went on to make their own company, Telltale games. You may enjoy these games, and they're $9 an "episode", with cheap bundle packs of entire seasons. Season one is actually coming out on Wii in a couple weeks.

I would recommend at least trying their free game: season 1 episode 4, Abe Lincoln Must Die. Just google them and you should at least find their site fast enough.

Here's some examples of humor from the games. One isn't from the games, but uses their graphics.

Sorry for getting distracted there. I've just become quite the fan, and felt like sharing in case you didn't know of them.

I appreciate the thought, but I've played through the first season. I've been a fan of Sam & Max since I played the original game from '93. You should check it out - it's a lot more challenging than these new episodes.

Awsome. This is pure awesome. Joker's design is so fun to play with.

Thank yous.
Unfortunately, there's not much originality left to be had, so I just didn't try to hard in that respect.

Oh yeah. I found myself a copy of the game and Scummvm, a Scumm games emulator for new systems.

I saw the game series on Steam, and vaguely remembered it being a cult favorite.

Upon playing the free episode, I purchased the entire first and second season.

I'm now looking at the comic book in full publicized book form, the soundtracks, and all those neat goodies.

I've become quite the fan of them, which is the only reason I thought of it enough to mention it.

Welcomes.
True, but have you seen The Batman (animated series)? I totally love the Joker in that. He's so crazy awesome. ^-^
